Get ready for a life-changing holiday season! A lucky Californian has become a billionaire overnight after winning the massive $1.22 billion Mega Millions jackpot.
The winning ticket was sold at a Circle K store in Cottonwood, California, sending shockwaves through the community and sparking dreams of lavish lifestyles for many.
“What an incredible holiday present!” exclaimed Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium. “This is a truly special moment for our winner and a significant boost for good causes across the country, as lottery ticket sales benefit many important organizations.”
The winning numbers drawn on Friday night were 3, 7, 37, 49, 55, with a Mega Ball of 6.
While the identity of the lucky winner remains a mystery, excitement is brewing in Cottonwood as residents speculate about who among them might be the newest billionaire in town.
This jackpot marks the fifth-largest in Mega Millions history and the first major win in months. The previous jackpot winner was from Texas, who claimed an $810 million prize back in September.

The cash option for the lucky winner is a staggering $549.7 million, a significant jump from previous estimates. Winners have the option to receive the full jackpot amount in annuity payments over 30 years or take the lump sum payout.
While the odds of winning the jackpot are incredibly slim (1 in 302,575,350), there are still plenty of opportunities to win smaller prizes. On Christmas Eve, four lucky players matched the five white balls, winning the second-tier prize.
This year has seen a relatively low number of Mega Millions jackpot winners, making this latest win even more significant.
As the news of the winning ticket spreads, one thing is certain: someone in California is about to experience a holiday season they’ll never forget!
